Interested in Women's Studies? Trent University will host a Women's Studies course selection meeting January 20 Trent University's Women's Studies department is hosting a course selection meeting January 20 from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Wilson Reading Room at Traill College, Kerr House, for those who want to learn more about the program. Anyone interested in Women's Studies as well as those thinking about majoring, or doing a joint-major in Women's Studies, is encouraged to attend. Courses, teachers and what's new in the program will be discussed, as well as answers to the question "Why study Women's Studies?" At the heart of Women's Studies lies an examination of the relationships between genders. An interdisciplinary program, influenced by feminist thinking, it opens up the discussion on how these relationships have been, and continue to be shaped in history, across cultures and in contemporary Canada. "Our graduates have found their background vital to their employment in the corporate and public sectors, in social advocacy, and in education," says Prof. Julia Harrison, chair, Women's Studies. "Women's Studies explores gender relations and women's experiences in history, across cultures, and in contemporary Canadian society." Posted January 19, 2004 |
