Excalibur Shows Resolve This New Year Trent led by Hart-attack Excalibur nordic ski team captain Stephen Hart was victorious at a meet in Collingwood on January 4 winning the 10-kilometre Classic race. His teammate Peter Kraul finished in ninth place. "It was a good race, it's still early in the season and we're really just trying to get some competitions in and get in racing shape, and so far things have been coming along real well," says Mr. Hart, a Peterborough native. "We've now raced most of the top competitors in the province so it's just a matter of continuing to progress." Trent's next race is January 17 in Deep River. Trent opens nordic ski season with first-place finishes Trent's Stephen Hart led the way with two first-place finishes, as the Excalibur nordic ski team opened the season at the Ontario Cup in North Bay over the holidays. Mr. Hart triumphed in both the eight-kilometre classic and the eight-kilometre skate. Meanwhile, Peter Braul and Adreienne Mason significantly improved their results over last year. The next competition for the ski team is the OUA Cup in Deep River, on January 17 and 18. Trent's Angela Dafoe selected for OCAA Women's Volleyball All-Star Game Trent volleyball is proud to announce that Angela Dafoe has been selected to play in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Volleyball All-Star Game, to take place January 10 at Redeemer College. Ms. Dafoe is currently listed as one of the top five players in the eastern division for both kills and points per game. "Ange is a very hard worker both on and off of the volleyball court; she's also a team player and a great leader," says Adam Ruck, assistant coach. Ms. Dafoe hails from Frankford, Ontario and plays the power position for the Excalibur. Trent currently sits in fourth place in the eastern division of the OCAA and will host the second-place Loyalist Lancers on January 7 at the Athletic Centre. This game will be broadcast on Cogeco 10.
