Celebrating Student Achievement The second term wrapped up in celebration of student achievement with events at Lady Eaton College and the Trent-Fleming Nursing program. November 24 marked the Senior Tutor's Lunch at Lady Eaton College (LEC), which honoured the students within the college who made the dean's list in May 2003 and those receiving Fellows Prize awards. Students on the dean's list have a minimum 80 per cent average in the most recent session and a cumulative average of 75 per cent or higher - 139 LEC students were on the list. Lady Eaton Fellows Prize awards went to top humanities and science students in first, second and third year. The Senior Tutor's prize, named in honour of Prof. Fiona Harris-Stoertz, was also awarded. This prize is given to the student completing his or her final honours year (carrying a normal course load) with the highest cumulative average over the first three years of study and the highest (full course load) average in his or her third year. This year's recipient is Matey Matev. Prof. Colin Taylor, Dean of Arts and Science, and LEC Principal Arndt Kruger presented certificates and Vice President (Academic) Susan Clark attended. Top academic achievers were also honoured at a Christmas Nursing Social on December 3. The Trent-Fleming Nursing program honoured its top three academic achievers in second, third and fourth year at Gzowski College. The program's student association also presented its "Caring Nurse" awards. These awards were given to nursing students, nominated by their peers for going "above and beyond the call of duty." The Trent-Fleming Nursing program is an integrated, collaborative four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) Degree. Courses in the program are delivered on both sites throughout the four years. Second year - Alicia Raycroft, Deanna McArthur, Melinda Wall Posted December 22, 2003 |
