First annual conference of Ontario part-time university faculty Students, staff and faculty members are welcome to attend a first annual conference that will focus on the future of part-time faculty in Ontario universities on November 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Trent University. Sponsored by CUPE Local 3908-1, the conference will start with a screening of Barbara Wolf’s film "Degrees of Shame: Part-time Faculty: Migrant Workers of the Information Economy" at 10 a.m. and a panel discussion on the future of part-time faculty in Ontario universities at 11 a.m. Panelists include Stefan Bilaniuk, Trent University Faculty Association, Teresa Healy, senior research officer, CUPE, Jim Turk, executive director, Public Policy, CAUT and Bruno Tomberli, sessional instructor, University of Guelph, CUPE 3913. In the afternoon workshops on effective stewarding, student-labour coalitions on campus, CUPE 3908-1 bargaining and the university budget will be offered. At 4 p.m. the CUPE 3908-1 annual general meeting will take place in the senior common room at Traill College’s Scott House.
