Isomass Scientific donates $350,000 toward the purchase of Water Quality Centre equipment

High Resolution Mass Spectrometer to be housed in Chemical Sciences Building

Isomass Scientific, a Calgary-based company, has made a gift-in-kind donation of $350,000 toward the purchase of equipment to be used in Trent University’s Water Quality Centre.

Dean of Research and Graduate Studies Dr. Chris Metcalfe formally thanked Isomass President Nik Binder for his company’s generosity this morning at a plaque presentation ceremony on the campus’ East Bank.

"The new Chemical Sciences Building will provide a modern home for Trent’s respected Water Quality Centre. Thanks to Isomass, this 3,200 square feet of space will house the most sophisticated water quality testing equipment in Canada," said Mr. Metcalfe. "Thank you Isomass, for partnering with Trent."

Isomass Scientific is a distributor of scientific instruments that provides field service and technical support, supply of parts and consumables, and training. The company was founded by Nik and Joanne Binder in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in June 1981.

The mission of Trent’s Water Quality Centre is to develop new analytical approaches to key issues in water protection and analysis. It will develop and refine techniques that can be used by industries, government agencies and analytical service providers.
