Work & Study Abroad Fair: September 24 Trent International Program showcases opportunities abroad for students
Representatives from Trent, universities abroad as well as international organizations will speak to students about the opportunities available to them -- beyond their borders and around the world. A study abroad program exists to suit many interests, and regardless of major, all students can apply. Every year, more than 100 Trent students study or work abroad. The University has a strong history of commitment to internationalizing undergraduate education. "Study abroad is important to Trent because the academic and living experience is exactly in tune with our mission to provide a liberal education," says Dr. Michael Allcott, TIP director.
For example, if students are studying modern languages, they can choose to study for a year in France, Germany or Mexico and achieve fluency as they immerse themselves in the local culture. International Development Studies programs in Ecuador and Ghana, and the Native Studies program in Thailand, enable students to study and work in a developing country by combining academic courses with practical experience. There are also TIP exchange programs and an array of opportunities in countries such as South Korea, USA, England, Scotland, Wales, South Africa, Japan, Kenya, Spain, Germany, Finland, Israel and Mauritius. Countless
work and study opportunities for Trent University students in every academic
discipline will be showcased September 24 from 9:30
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Trent International Program’s (TIP) Annual
Work and Study Abroad Fair in the Champlain College Dining Hall.
"It’s
something that provides a personal experience for the students and
it is of value to the campus when they come back -- these students
have new academic and personal perspectives and they enrich the
classroom for those who haven’t been abroad."
