Trent University Commends Student "Shine Patrol"
More than 900 Trent "shiners" took part on "Shine Day" - September 6 - by washing cars, painting faces and shining shoes in exchange for a donation to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The students’ goal is to raise $22,000 by October 31. "You didn’t have to go very far in Peterborough on Saturday to encounter an enthusiastic group of students," said President Patterson. "It was truly a demonstration of the students’ commitment to their community." Shine Day wrapped-up a successful Introductory Seminar Week at the University. Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary school fundraiser, involving students from more than 60 college and university campuses across Canada. The campaign began in 1964 and has since raised almost $14 million to help find a cure for CF. Posted September 10, 2003 |
