Peterborough Regional Science Fair a Huge Success
513 students participated in this year’s fair, representing 27 local schools. Students from kindergarten to OAC were involved, and projects covered a dazzling array of topics. At 2:30 p.m. all participants were able to take part in group activities. Students from kindergarten to grade eight were invited to see a dynamic science show in the Wenjack Theatre, and high school students toured cutting-edge research labs on campus, such as the DNA lab, the wind tunnel and electron microscope labs. Photos: Robin, a grade one student from Westmount Public School, worked with a classmate, Fiona, to test the effect of certain liquids on egg shells. The two girls immersed one egg in vinegar, one egg in water and one in a salt water solution and discovered that egg shells completely dissolve in vinegar!
