11th Annual David Sheperd Family Lecture Takes Place Tonight David Runnalls will be the guest speaker at this year’s David Sheperd Family Lecture on Thursday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. His talk is titled "Canada’s Ratification of Kyoto: How Not to Make Public Policy" and will be held in the Champlain College Lecture Hall. Mr. Runnalls is the president and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development, which has its head office in Winnipeg. He also serves as co-chair of the China Council Working Group on Environment and Trade. Previously, Mr. Runnalls was director of the Environment and Sustainable Development Programme at the Institute for Research on Public Policy in Ottawa, and senior advisor to the president of the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa. He was also the Canadian board member of IUCN, the World Conservation Union, for six years, and chair of the committeee for the World Conservation Congress in 1996. He is a member of the boards of the World Environment Centre (New York), the International Institute for Environment and Development (London, England), and Pollution Probe (Toronto). Mr. Runnalls is the author of a number of papers and articles about sustainable development and has served as a consultant to the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Bank, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Canadian International Development Agency, the National Film Board of Canada and the United States Agency for International Development.
