TCSA
Elections are Underway
The
Trent Central Student Association, Trent University’s student government,
is gearing up for its annual elections. Nominations have been filed for
all TCSA positions and speeches and campaigning are now underway.
Candidate
speeches will take place on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Traill
College Junior Common Room.
Balloting
times for the period of March 10 - 13 are as follows:
Monday, March 10: Wenjack Theatre, 10 - 5
Tuesday, March 11: At Colleges, 10 - 5
Wednesday, March 12: Wenjack Theatre, 10 - 5
Thursday, March 13: At Colleges, 10 - 6

The
following seven levy questions are included on the ballot for the spring
elections:
- Do
you support an increase to the Trent Annual levy from $18 to $24 and
for the levy to be indexed annually to the Consumer Price Index (CPI)?
- Do
you support the creation of a $4 refundable levy for the Absynthe paper?
- Do
you support the creation of a $1.50 refundable levy to fund the Trent
Queer Collective?
- Do
you support the creation of a $2 refundable levy indexed annually to
the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to fund the student run Seasoned Spoon
Cafe?
- Do
you support a 50 cent increase to the Trent Women’s Center non-refundable
levy from $2.25 to $2.75?
- Do
you support a 50 cent increase from $2.50 to $3 to the World University
Service of Canada levy (to improve the standard of living of a sponsored
refugee student) and for the levy to be indexed annually to the Consumer
Price Index (CPI)?
- Do
you support the creation of a $22 levy to be indexed annually to the
Consumer Price Index (CPI) to purchase an existing building in the City
of Peterborough close to a Trent bus route to create and operate a non-profit,
cultural and educational student facility; sponsored and operated by
the students of Trent University and governed by an independent board
of directors?A majority of this board shall be enrolled students of
Trent University.
