Hundreds of students participate in campus recreation activities Over 700 students are currently involved in campus recreation programs at Trent University. Activities range from competitive and non-competitive basketball and squash to co-ed swimming, indoor soccer, volleyball, hockey and inner tube ultimate frisbee. "We started offering ultimate frisbee a few years ago, and it was very popular," says campus recreation co-ordinator Sue Robinson. "We had already been offering inner tube water polo, which was also very popular, so we decided to combine the two sports. It’s very fun, and the students are loving it. The great thing about it is that swimming skills aren’t the key, because everyone is in an inner tube - it’s about passing and teamwork." Ms. Robinson says she gets a lot of positive feedback from students about the fun athletic programs offered at Trent. "I think it’s important. Part of going to university is taking part in clubs, groups and activities because you can learn so much about yourself through those things. As well, on the athletic side, the more fit students are, the better they will handle stress and time management issues," she says.
