Alumni event exceeds expectations
A
gathering of Trent alumni, who work in the financial district of Toronto,
was held on Tuesday, November 12 and was a rousing success.
Twenty-eight alumni attended the event, along with 27 guests. Surrounded by Dale Chihuly glass art in the newly-opened Sandra Ainsley gallery in the historic Gooderham and Worts site (55 Mill Street), everyone in attendance had a very enjoyable time.
Board of Governors Chair Reid Morden talked to the group about security concerns as they affect the financial district. Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Chris Metcalfe, also gave a Build 2000 and Water Quality Research Centre update.
Alumnus David Patterson, CEO of Northwater Management Inc., sponsored the event. He was also responsible for sponsoring the Dale Chihuly exhibit, and was given a copy of Yann Martel’s Booker Prize-winning novel, Life of Pi, from Trent University at the event.
Mill Street Brewery donated organic beer to the first annual function, which was catered by Flip.
The night was very successful. In attendance were several representatives from Trent, including Alumni Affairs Director Tony Storey and Vice President of Advancement Susan Mackle.
