A
celebration of education:
Ms. Cunningham arrived at Otonabee College just before 2:30 p.m. and was able to view the Build 2000 construction project with President Bonnie Patterson. The program of the official celebration event, held in the Native Studies Lounge, included remarks by the School of Education’s Director, Dr. Deborah Berrill; MPP Gary Stewart; President Patterson; and Ms. Cunningham. Everyone involved expressed support and enthusiasm for the new School and its mandate to support principles that lead to excellence in education for all students.
"Trent's new School of Education and Professional Learning will carry on a century-old Peterborough tradition of teacher preparation and teacher development," said President Patterson. "It will provide a response to the changing demographics in the teaching profession at the local, regional, provincial and national levels. And it will complement the government's on-going strategy to renew the public education system. I know that the program is going to be an outstanding success." Posted November 14, 2002 |
