The Maps, Data & Government Information Centre (MaDGIC) is located on the 4th Floor of Thomas. J. Bata Library, Trent University. The Centre includes a Data Visualization Lab (Room 402), Inquiry & Consultation Office (Room 415), aerial photography and digital imagery, atlas, map and government publication collections and study space.

Winter Term Hours of Service

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Extended Hours: Tuesdays 5:30 p.m.  to 8 p.m. ( Data Visualization Lab Only)

MaDGIC's Inquiry and Consultation Office is located in Room 415, 4th Floor, Bata Library.

Appointments are recommended.

Data Visualization Lab Hours of Service

Walk-in Hours: Monday to Friday - 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Also, Tuesday evenings: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Other times: Please contact us to reserve a workstation or to make an appointment with a staff member outside of walk-in hours.

We encourage researchers to send questions in advance of using the lab.

Assistance with Research & Assignments

We look forward to assisting students and researchers with maps and other cartographic collections; government publications; spatial and statistical data; research data managegement (RDM); data archiving; spatial, statistical & visualization software and associated research methodologies.

Workshops and Tours

MaDIC offers a range of workshops and tours. Requests for workshops  must be made a minimum of 3 weeks in advance of the desired date.

Access To MaDGIC Stacks

MaDGIC collections include digital and hard copy resources.

Government publication, atlas and map stacks are located on the 4th floor of the library and are accessible during main building hours of operation, with the exception of a small percentage of special collections located in MaDGIC's Inquiry & Consultation Office (Room 415). Please check the library catalogue for call numbers and the location of MaDGIC collections, or contact us for information.
