Relevance to Canadian Art
Carl Beam's artwork is just an example of Trent Universities commitment to investing in contemporary Canadian art work. Contemporary Indian art being collected at Universities, institutions and in galleries all over Canada, and internationally is growing at a rapid pace. Beam's The European Iceberg, was purchase by the National Gallery of Canada in 1986.. The European Iceberg was the first contemporary Native Art piece to be purchased at the National Gallery since the 1960's.
