Cory completed BAs in both History and Political Science at Carleton University before coming to Trent, as well as having worked extensively with the Royal Canadian Navy's History and Heritage division and the Canadian War Museum. Cory's main area of interest has been Canadian federal politics in the post-war and early Cold War, and his current project is no exception. Titled The Construction of the Prime Minister: Uncle Louis and the Liberal Brand in the 1950s, this project looks at how the Liberal party and Louis St. Laurent constructed and employed the "Uncle Louis" persona to remake the Liberal Party's brand in the 1950s. Using the latest theories on political branding emerging out of the Political Science discourse, this research seeks to demonstrate how very modern political techniques were employed considerably earlier than conventional narratives suggest.
