Health and Safety A-Z
Topic: A-Z Documentation
Summary:
There are three really good reasons for putting your health and safety program into writing:
Documentation can help to avoid confusion and uncertainty by making sure everyone involved receives the same information;
Written records don’t change with time, memory or circumstance. This can be especially important in the event a serious incident that leads to an investigation; and
Written procedures, training records and similar documentation is often required by law.
The primary goal of any H&S document is to prevent an accident, but documentation can be a compliance requirement and critical to the demonstration of due diligence.
