Summary:
The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires that at least two members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) complete special training to become certified members. Certified members have the authority to direct the employer or constructor to stop work where they agree that a dangerous circumstance exists.
The Ministry of Labour announced changes to Certification requirements. These changes came into force March 1, 2016.
