GIS Planning Technician- Municipality of Dysart et. al.
Danielle completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons) of Geography in 2017 at Trent. Prior to graduation, Danielle worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry as a Natural Heritage Technician during the summer of 2016. After graduation she continued to work for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on contract within Peterborough and Hearst, Ontario. She worked with clients to protect conservation lands, map wildlife patterns, survey wildlife and update the Ontario Hydrological Network. Now permanently with the Municipality of Dysart et al in Haliburton as their GIS Planning Technician. Danielle’s main roles are to maintain the municipalities spatial data, developing maps, and ensuring people are building in compliance to Zoning By-law. She states “Without my knowledge of geography and the geography courses I took during my degree I wouldn’t be where I am today!”

Hydrometric Technician with the Water Survey of Canada
Water is a' boiling' topic these days, so ottO has headed to the field to keep the data flowing on Canada’s river and lake levels. Working out of the Environment Canada office in North Bay, ottO combines field data collection with computational modeling to deliver high quality data on water quantity to partner agencies. All of the hands-on field experience at Trent, including a trip to Kananaskis, AB, have proved invaluable in his position.

GIS Technologist - City of Peterborough
Juliana completed a post graduate GIS - Cartographic Specialist Certificate at Fleming College during the third of her four year Honours degree program in Geography at Trent. Prior to graduation, Juliana worked for the City of Peterborough as a GIS assistant during the summers of 2012 and 2013. Now permanently employed as a GIS Technologist with the City, Juliana’s main roles are to create and maintain several web applications, which include an internal Infrastructure Data Viewer and apps to assist the Fire Department with their Fire Prevention program. She also plays a lead role in the ongoing maintenance and yearly reporting of the City’s infrastructure. Juliana particularly enjoys the challenge of keeping up-to-date in the continuously evolving field of GIS.
