Indigenous Students
Trent values Indigeneity and the knowledge, perspective and voice you bring to the Trent community as a person of Indigenous Ancestry.
There are two application pathways for Students of Indigenous Ancestry (First Nations, Métis or Inuit, Status or Non-Status):
-
Degree Program
Indigenous students who have followed a traditional academic path are eligible to apply directly to degree programs at Trent.
Please review admission requirements and then apply to Trent.
-
Indigenous Diploma Program
The Indigenous Diploma Program at Trent University is a program for applicants of Indigenous ancestry who wish to pursue university level studies, but do not currently meet admission requirements. We acknowledge that many applicants may not have taken a traditional academic path towards post-secondary education and may benefit from studying in a supportive academic atmosphere for Indigenous students - this is offered through the Indigenous Diploma Program.

How to Apply
Current Secondary Students
You are a current Ontario secondary student who self-identifies as being of Indigenous ancestry who has followed a non-traditional academic path.
Non-Current Secondary Students
You are not currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school. You self-identify as of Indigenous ancestry and have not followed a traditional academic path toward post-secondary education. You may be a mature student, or a student who has experienced extenuating circumstances you feel impacted your academic success over the course of your academic history.
Indigenous Diploma Applicant
Current Ontario secondary students applying to an Indigenous Diploma Program must submit an online application through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC). Applicants who are not currently attending an Ontario secondary school can apply using Trent's Direct Application form. In either case, before applying, please contact our Indigenous Enrolment Advisor to activate application support. All diploma applicants are required to contact the Indigenous Enrolment Advisor to schedule an intake interview to connect with Indigenous Student Support Services.
