A diverse team of students, supervised by Trent Durham Counselling Services, with the goal of building a healthy and inclusive student community.

What To Expect
Our past initiatives have included a therapy dog program, art therapy workshops, mental health workshops, yoga, and suicide alertness training.
Each school year we will be focusing on providing local resources, interactive workshops in collaboration with our community partners, and activities on student-specific issues and topics.

Let’s Talk Sex: A Workshop Series Exploring Sexual Health
Presented by the AIDS Committee of Durham Region in partnership with Trent University Durham GTA, Durham College, and Ontario Tech University.
Workshop 1: Safer Partying
Tuesday January 30th 2-3pm, In-Person
You’re away from home, feeling a bit adventurous, and you want to see what the party life looks like on campus. There’s no shame there! While you don’t need a 90s style PSA, there are risks associated with substance use which are worth talking about. This workshop will look at substance use through a harm reduction lens, so those who want to use can decide if they want to reduce their risk while doing so! Additionally, this workshop will talk about how to use naloxone and intervene in an opioid overdose.

Workshop 2: Healthy Relationships
Tuesday February 13 at 2-3pm, In-Person
Having trouble making new friends? Do you struggle with establishing and maintaining boundaries with partners? Do you want to talk about sexual health but don’t know how? This workshop will talk about how to build and maintain healthier relationships, be they platonic, romantic, or sexual to help you live the school life you’re hoping for by examining communication styles, boundary setting, consent, and check in systems.

Workshop 3: HIV 101
Tuesday March 5 at 2-3pm, Online
Let's be honest, high school sex-ed wasn't as thorough as we needed it to be and didn’t teach us enough about STBBIs like HIV. This session will discuss HIV/AIDS in depth. It will focus on the history of HIV/AIDS, as well as HIV transmission, treatment, and risk reduction.

Workshop 4: Coming Out and STBBI Disclosure
Tuesday March 19th a 3-4pm, Online
The pressure to be out and proud can be challenging for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. This workshop will discuss strategies for coming out, reasons you may choose not to, and how to best support your 2SLGBTQIA+ friends on their coming out journey. Additionally, this workshop will discuss STBBI disclosure, STBBI Stigma, and tips for navigating those conversations.
