Largest Graduating Class in Trent University Durham GTA History to be Honoured at 2024 Convocation
Trent University Durham GTA will confer the largest graduating class in its history during 2024 convocation ceremonies on Friday, June 14 at the Tribute Communities Centre (99 Athol St. East) in Oshawa.
During the morning and afternoon ceremonies, 765 graduates will be celebrated, including 288 undergraduate degrees, 140 Master of Management degrees, and 337 postgraduate certificates.
“The University's continues to realize exciting growth within the region, once again celebrating a record number of graduates this year,” said Dr. Scott Henderson, dean and head of Trent Durham GTA. “We look forward to celebrating their successes and welcoming them to the Trent Alumni family.”
Additional highlights of this year’s Trent Durham convocation ceremonies include the first cohort of graduates from the Financial Analytics, Business Communications, and Business Administration postgraduate certificate programs.
An honorary degree will be presented to Cheryl Perera, renowned international children’s rights activist and member of the Order of Ontario, during the Trent Durham convocation ceremony on Friday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m.
Dr. Leo Groarke will deliver the convocation address during the Trent Durham’s morning ceremony, his last as Trent’s eighth president and vice-chancellor. When his second term in the role concludes at the end of June 2024, he will leave a legacy of accomplishments that have advanced Trent’s academic, administrative, and community profile.
Dr. Stephen Stohn, chancellor of Trent University, will also address graduates at convocation.
Student Awards
During the 2024 convocation ceremonies, Trent Durham will honour two of its most accomplished students with the Muldoon Medal, which was established in 2019 in honour of Joe Muldoon, former head of Trent Durham, to recognize graduating students from both the honours and general degree programs who achieve high academic standing. The 2024 recipients are: Deanna Nedanis, B.Sc.Honours Psychology; and Christine Clark, B.A. Child & Youth Studies.

Friday, June 14, 2024 – 2:00 p.m. ceremony:
Degrees will be conferred for Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts Honours, Bachelor of Science Honours, Bachelor of Arts General, Bachelor of Science General in Anthropology, Child & Youth Studies, Gender & Social Justice, Policing & Community Well-Being, Psychology, and Sociology. Cheryl Perera will be presented with an honorary doctorate of laws.
