This course will be waitlisted and only students who have successfully met the admission requirements and been matched with a placement organization will be enrolled. A maximum of 15 student placements will be available per course offering. The spaces will be filled as students meet the requirements and are registered in the course, on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Placements will be operated through the Peterborough campus, and may be in-person, online, or hybrid.
Criminology Field Placement Application Checklist

- Identifying three organizations of interest
- CV or Resumé
- Including the names and contact information for three references
- Trent University Grades

All applications must be submitted in full by May 31 for a subsequent January start-date. An email application can be sent to criminology@trentu.ca to be considered.
Please note that meeting these requirements does not guarantee entry into the placement. Selected students will work with the course instructor and Careerspace to identify suitable organizations. Prior to meeting with the host organization, students would also be required to meet with a Careerspace Career Advisor, to have their resume reviewed and engage in a mock interview. Once a placement has been secured, students will then be enrolled into the course.
Prior to the start of their placements, students will be required to submit certificates of completion (valid within the preceding 12 months) for three WEB modules, as listed below. The instructor and/or Careerspace will assist students in gaining access to these modules through Blackboard.
- Health and Safety, Ministry of Labour
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Violence and Harassment in the Workplace
Students may be required to complete additional training such as, but not limited to, First Aid specific to their placement. These details will be reviewed with students before a placement agreement is finalized. Students are also encouraged to review the Career and Workforce Readiness Modules created by Careerspace.
