Kristy Buccieri (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and the founding Coordinator of the Criminology degree at Trent. Her research examines lived experiences of homelessness in Canada, particularly related to health and community factors. Her most recent research interest focuses on how to teach about homelessness as a social education issue. Her publications to date include 13 journal articles, 10 book chapters, and 12 policy reports. She has also published 4 books as the author and/or editor, including: Understanding Homelessness in Canada (2022), Pandemic Preparedness and Homelessness (2016), Body Tensions (2014), and Youth Homelessness in Canada (2013). In 2022 she was awarded an institutional Teaching Fellowship through the Centre for Teaching and Learning, alongside Dr. Beth Torrens. With this Fellowship, they are investigating student satisfaction and pathways through the Criminology and Socio-Legal Specialization at Trent.
