Colleges Programming Fund
Do you have a great idea for a Trent event?
The Colleges Programming Fund (formerly the Pan-Colleges Fund) is here to help you. If your event benefits the entire Trent community and is collegiate in nature you could be eligible for financial assistance from the Colleges of Trent University. Please read more about the application process below.
About the Program
Trent University is rather unique in the world for the level of support that is centrally provided for its colleges. The Colleges Programming Fund (CPF) is one pillar in this system of support that is designed to enrich the entire collegiate system. In particular, the CPF enhances the student experience by providing funds for meaningful events and activities of shared interest. Through the use of principals as event advocates, it is hoped that your event can be planned, promoted, and executed in a meaningful, collegiate way.
Eligibility
- The CPF is open to most Trent students, student groups, staff, and faculty. College staff and College Cabinets are not eligible for the CPF as there are alternative means of funding available to them through their respective colleges.
- The CPF does not automatically provide continued, or repeat funding for events. Separate applications are required for each occurrence of an event.
- The CPF cannot support events or programs that will result in profit, even if the profit goes to charity.
- The CPF cannot support infrastructure (i.e. buildings, furnishings, etc.), publishing, or other non-event-oriented proposals.
- Requests for funds from the CPF must be made before the event takes place. Requests for funding after the event will not be entertained. Applications will be considered on a rolling deadline.
- Applicants may be asked to keep receipts for purchases made for their event and be required to submit a final event report.
How to Apply
- Approach one of the five college principals to discuss your event. That principal will become your event advocate who will help in the application process and present your event to the funding adjudication panel.
- If the principal you initially approach believes that they cannot be the event advocate, or perceives a better fit with another college, they will ask you to redirect your request to another principal.
- Only a principal can redirect your event request. Simultaneously approaching multiple principals for the same event will not improve your chances of receiving funds and may result in the disqualification of your event from adjudication.
- The funding adjudication panel is comprised of the college principals. They will endeavor to make a decision in a timely fashion about funding and the event advocate will provide additional advice and support in the successful running of your event. Decisions made by the funding adjudicators are final. No event or program can receive more than $2000.00.
- The entire CPF has $22,000.00 at its disposal in the 2019-20 year. The awarding of funds will be on a first come, first served basis until the fund is depleted.
