DURHAM, June 2024 – Dan Carter, mayor of Oshawa, shared an impactful message this June in honour of Pride Month. “June is Pride Month, a time dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQ+ people and communities in our city,” said Mayor Carter. “We celebrate the beauty and diversity of this community and recognize their fundamental rights to equality.”
Mayor Dan Carter demonstrates the city’s commitment to embracing 2SLGBTQ+ identities and protecting them from structural inequities. The mayor announced that the City of Oshawa will continue their efforts integrating anti-discrimination policies aimed to address prejudice and violence towards 2SLGBTQ+ people.
Mayor Carter concludes this statement by sharing a call to action for all to stand in solidarity. “Let us all stand in solidarity with 2SLGBTQ+ people and communities this month to support their journey towards equity and equality.”
