This model predicts fish concentrations for neutral organic chemicals through dietary and respiratory uptake including loss by respiration, egestion, metabolic biotransformation, and growth dilution. Equations used in all calculations and references for equations and default values are included in the spreadsheet and inputs are highlighted in blue for ease of use. Results can be found at the bottom of the worksheet including fish concentration and fugacity, bioconcentration factor (BCF), biomagnification factor (BMF), and bioaccumulation factor (BAF).
Features of the Fish model:
- Estimates fish concentrations due to uptake by respiration and diet due to presence of a chemical in water
- Provides a small fish database
- Default species and values are provided based on a Lake Ontario Foodweb
- Treats any neutral organic chemical
- Accounts for uptake and loss due to respiration, diet, metabolic biotransformation, and growth dilution
- Spreadsheets can be edited
- Includes instructions sheet, guidance for choosing input values, and more in-depth information available in the publications
