Research: Bridging land and place as relationship rather than ownership into settler recognition.
A strong interest grew within Indigenous Studies and Canadian Studies undergrad courses for connection to place through land education and community-based research, particularly in examining settler discomfort around Indigenous rights regarding land and archival records on the account of ecology and affinity. It is my hope that I will be able to contribute within the field of education to Indigenous-settler relations without impeding or placing assumptions on others, while also continuing conversations toward a deeper understanding of the relationship with land and each other.

Research: Reclaiming our identity, revitalizing our languages, reconnecting with our cultures, and rebuilding relationships with the land through beadwork.
Haudenosaunee raised beadwork played a considerable part in our communities and continues to contribute today. We have utilized beadwork to document political values and share stories of the world changing around us. Haudenosaunee raised beadwork is a 3D style which gained popularity in the late 1850s. The concept of beadwork being 3D aligns with the same idea of the Kanien’keha language. Our language is 3D, meaning the translations of our words paint a picture that tends to lose its meaning in English.

Research: The Metis People: A Contemporary Context
I am a Red River Métis artist and musician. I have had the pleasure of participating in award winning policy work with CRE (Canadian Roots Exchange) and a season of podcasting media with Indigenous150+. In 2022-2023 I served as a member of the executive council on the Peterborough & Wapiti District Métis Council. I am interested in contemporary Métis culture and the connection or reconnection of Métis people to their community.
I am currently working on film and creative projects on the communications team at Water First (NGO).
