Fall/Winter Term
Course overload is enrollment in more than 2.5 credits, or equivalent, during the Fall term or Winter term. Students planning to register in courses in addition to the normal full-time load are completely responsible for doing so and are cautioned against potential academic difficulties.
- Full-time students with an Academic Status of Good Standing may overload by 0.5 credit in each of the Fall or Winter terms using the myTrent registration system.
- Students with an Academic Status of Good Standing who wish to overload in more than 0.5 credit in the Fall or Winter terms must submit a Petition for Course Overload to the Committee on Undergraduate Petitions (CUP) for permission.
- Students who do not have an Academic Status of Good Standing must submit a Petition for Course Overload to the Committee on Undergraduate Petitions (CUP) for permission.
Summer Term
Full-time and part-time eligible students may register in up to 2.0 credits overall in the Summer term. A full-time load in a six-week term is 1.0 credit. Students with an Academic Status of Good Standing may enrol in up to 1.5 credits in one six-week term. Students wishing to take more than 1.5 credits in one six-week term must submit a Petition for Course Overload to the Committee on Undergraduate Petitions (CUP) for permission.
Key Notes
- The maximums do not apply where a program’s planned curriculum requires that students take an additional load.
- Upon registration, students are responsible for making themselves aware of the academic and financial obligations and deadlines associated with each course.
