Fostering a Welcome and Inclusive Environment
Trent Athletics & Recreation is committed to creating a safe, accessible and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. As members of the Trent community, we each share the responsibility of encouraging constructive behaviour and addressing any harmful or disruptive actions. The standards we collectively uphold have a significant impact on our ability to foster an inclusive environment and maintain the high value of education of Trent. This university is intended to be a collegial space characterized by mutual respect.
Unacceptable Behaviour
Bullying, harassment, discrimination and disrespect undermine this goal and have no place in our community. Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Not following staff instructions
- Yelling, insults or profanity
- Unwanted attention and sexual advances
- Expressions of bigotry, hatred or prejudice
- Violence, threats and intimidation
Consequences and Support
Engaging in any these behaviours may result in access privileges to the Athletics Centre being revoked. If you experience or witness harassment or discrimination of any kind, please seek support from an Athletics staff member or other appropriate campus resources. Together, we can foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that allows all members of the Trent community to thrive. By upholding our shared values of respect and civility, we can create a space where everyone feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
Trent University is committed to ensuring that its staff, students and visitors are included, inspired, safe, supported and celebrated. The University seeks to actively promote an accessible, equitable campus society that reflects and embraces the diversity of its occupants guided by human rights principles and practice, free from discrimination.
