Trent Talks: High School Edition 2024

These talks are a way for Trent University to give back to our community by sharing its passion for research, teaching, and learning.
Admission to Trent
Release of Information Form
In order to speak with Trent University about a student's application, the student must fill out and submit a "Release of Information" form, available on MyTrent.
Applications
Applications open at OUAC on September 19, 2024 and remain open until at least January 15, 2025. After January 15, 2025, some of our programs may close, but most will remain open for later applications.
Calculating Entrance Average
Admission to Trent is based on a minimum overall average of 70% on top six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses and a minimum of 60% in ENG 4U. Professional programs have specific admission requirements that differ from Trent's general admission. Non-Ontario secondary students have specific admission requirements. Please refer to the Out of Province Admission section for more details. For more information about Trent admission requirements, please visit the Admissions Requirement Chart.
Average Cut-Offs
Average cut-offs fluctuate year to year, depending on the number of applications received, and the strength of the applications. Typically, cut-offs range from the low 70s to the mid 80s. Applicants are encouraged to aim for the highest average possible to increase eligibility for a given program, as well as scholarship consideration (entrance scholarships begin at 80%).
Offers of Admission
Offers of Admission continue to go out on a rolling-basis, as we receive updated grades.
For applicants not meeting the competitive average for programs with heightened admission requirements, we automatically assess for an alternate offer to another program.
For applicants with studies still in-progress, all offers of admission are conditional. Conditions can be found at the bottom of the offer letter that arrives by mail.
If an applicant has accepted an offer at another institution, Trent will continue to assess for an offer.
Offers can be deferred for up to 1-year. To request a deferral, applicants must accept their offer and then complete the "Deferral Request" form under the Academics tab of the myTrent portal (form will remain open until the end of August). Deferrals are confirmed in July/August, as admission conditions are confirmed.
Summer School /Online Courses
Applicants may upgrade over the summer months to meet admission conditions. The "Intention to Upgrade" form will need to be completed (found under the Academics tab of the myTrent portal). Trent may use these grades in calculating final entrance averages for admission and scholarship purposes.
For any questions, please ask the parent/student to email admissions@trentu.ca
