Interested students are invited to apply for admission to the Professional Years, which consist almost exclusively of Social Work courses.
The Professional Years may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis:
- Full-time students complete the Professional Years over two consecutive years (four academic terms).
- Part-time students complete the Professional Years over two and a half consecutive years (six academic terms).
Please note that only students who have received transfer credit for the SWRK 3000Y field placement are eligible for the part-time study option.

Field Placements
During the Professional Years, students complete a minimum of 700 hours of supervised field placement, configured as follows:
- SWRK 3000Y: Three (3) days per week, during the Winter term (total 240 hours)
- SWRK 4000D: Three (3) days per week, over two academic terms (total 460 hours)
- Full-time students: complete the SWRK 4000D placement across the Fall and Winter terms
- Part-time students: complete the SWRK 4000D placement across the Summer and Fall terms
Placements are typically located within one (1) hour's travel of the student's assigned campus. Students are assigned placements based on criteria that supports their development as generalist social work practitioners, while also meeting program requirements and the needs of partner agencies.
