Community Members Invited to Study Chinese …in Shanghai!

Trent International Program and Continuing Education Department Team Up to Offer Unique Summer Study Abroad Opportunity

Trent University, in partnership with Shanghai Normal University, is pleased to offer community members the unique opportunity to study Chinese language and culture in a two or four-week intensive learning program in Shanghai, China, under the supervision of an experienced Trent Program Director.

As participants of the program, community members will spend three to four hours each morning studying the Chinese language with Shanghai Normal University faculty. The afternoons will provide opportunities to learn about Chinese culture and art. Classes will be a mix of undergraduate students from around the globe, as well as community members. Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

The two-week program runs from July 1 to July 15, 2007. The fee is $995 + GST. The four-week program runs from July 1 to July 28, 2007. The fee is $1,500 + GST.

The program fee includes: accommodations, cultural activities, course instruction and pre-departure information session. Participants are responsible for meals, flights, health insurance, and visa costs, estimated at $2,500-$3,000. Prices are based on a group of ten participants.

The application deadline for the program is Monday, March 15, 2007.

Anyone interested in learning more about this program is invited to a free information session to be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Blackburn Hall, Room 134 at Trent University.
