Body Image and the Role of the Media to be discussed

Body image and the impact of the media on girls will be the subject of a presentation by educator Anne Coyle at Trent University on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wenjack Theatre.

Ms. Coyle has spent much of her teaching career in special education and counselling. Her expertise in the area of self-esteem and body politics for pre-adolescent and adolescent girls has led to the development of a CD ROM entitled, "Freedom to Grow," which will be available next year. The CD attempts to change the way that girls see themselves and the world around them.

Ms. Coyle will be discussing the role of the media and how it has contributed to the perception of body image for girls and teenagers, particularly between the ages of 8 and 16.

There is no charge for this event and all are welcome.
