Trent University's Prestigious Entrance Scholarships Open to Applicants

New students entering their first year of study are encouraged to apply

Trent University's Champlain Scholarship, the Board of Governors' Leadership Scholarship, the Michael Treadwell Scholarship and the Trent University Special Admissions Scholarship are awarded to new students entering their first year of study.

Recipients of these scholarships are students who have displayed exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement and are likely to have a significant impact on the life of Trent University.

The Champlain Scholarship has a value of $8,500 in the first year, and $3,000 in each of the succeeding three years, providing that scholarship standing of 80 per cent or more in five full courses or equivalent is achieved each year. Two Champlain Scholarships are awarded each year. Total value over four years of $17,500.

The Board of Governors' Leadership Scholarship has a value of $4,500 in the first year, and $2,500 in each of the succeeding years, providing that scholarship standing of 80 per cent or higher is maintained in five full courses or equivalent each year. One scholarship is awarded each year. Total value over four years of $12,000.

The Michael Treadwell Scholarship has a value of $4,000 for each year of study up to four years, providing that scholarship standing of 80 per cent or higher is maintained in five full courses or equivalent each year. Awarded every four years to one entering student of exceptional high achievement and promise intending to major in the humanities. Awarded for the first time in September 2004. Total value over four years of $16,000.

The Trent University Special Admissions Scholarship has a value of $4,250 for the first year and $2,250 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80 per cent or higher is maintained in five full courses or equivalent each year. Ten special scholarships are awarded each year. Total value over four years of $11,000.

One application makes a new student eligible for any of the above scholarships. Previous recipients of these scholarships presented entrance marks of over 90 per cent. If new students are not awarded one of these scholarships, they will automatically be awarded a National Renewable Entrance Scholarship provided their entrance marks are at least 80 per cent.

3. Deadline date for receipt is March 1, 2004.
