Rooke Lecture to take place tonight:

EXPLORING W.O. MITCHELL’S ADVENTURES IN THE FILM TRADE

Barbara Mitchell and Orm Mitchell will discuss "W.O. Mitchell’s Adventures in the Film Trade" on Thursday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Public Library. Their talk will be part of this year’s Rooke Lecture Series.

Orm and Barbara Mitchell published W.O.: The Life of W.O. Mitchell: Beginnings to Who Has Seen the Wind in 1999. They also edited a selection of Mitchell's performance pieces, An Evening with W.O. Mitchell (1997) and worked with the photographer, Courtney Milne, on W.O. Mitchell Country (1999). They are currently working on the second volume of their W.O. biography, which will be published next spring. Tonight they will talk about Mitchell's love-hate relationship with the film world and will screen portions from two feature films, Alien Thunder (1973) and Who Has Seen the Wind (1976), for which Mitchell wrote screenplays.

The Rooke Lectures, endowed by the late Barbara Rooke, chair of the English Department from 1969 to 1973, are an annual series of lectures on English literature presented by visiting speakers and Trent University faculty.

This event is free and open to the public.
