BOARD APPROVES AGREEMENTS WITH TWO CUPE EMPLOYEE GROUPS

Trent University’s and CUPE Board of Governors ratified collective agreements with units 1 and 2 of CUPE (Canadian Union of Public Employees) Local 3908.

CUPE 1 represents Trent part time faculty, and CUPE unit 2 represents employees registered as students at Trent who work as graduate teaching assistants and in other academic support positions.

Part Time Faculty - Highlights

  • Three year agreement 2001-2004
  • Two per cent increase in each year of the agreement
  • 100 members (including Durham)

Graduate Teaching Assistants - Highlights

  • Three year agreement 2002-2005
  • Two per cent increase in each year of the agreement
  • 246 members (90 Graduate Teaching Assistants and 156 hourly paid)

Dean Christine McKinnon noted that, "Both groups of employees play an important role in support of the academic mission of the university. I am extremely pleased that the parties have reached satisfactory agreements."
