Scholars Portal Search Engine Retires

Scholars Portal Search Engine Retires

Posted July 4, 2011

After many successful years of service, the Scholars Portal Search engine is being retired. This interface has been heavily used by Ontario University students and faculty for many years as a popular starting point for research in our Scholars Portal index databases. However, it has become outdated. It's being replaced by a new ProQuest interface.

Trent currently has access to 77 index databases on the Scholars Portal platform, covering almost every subject area.
The majority of these database will now be searchable via the new ProQuest interface (search engine).
Those that are not searchable via the ProQuest interface will be searchable on their own native interface.

See the new ProQuest interface. We think you'll like the new look and features.

Over the coming weeks you'll see changes in the search screens and options in Scholars Portal databases, as we make the move to the new interface - database by database. Instead of "Scholars Portal Search", you'll see "ProQuest Databases", but the content will be much the same as it was with Scholars Portal.
These changes should be complete by July 15, 2011.

Scholars Portal has NOT gone away.
The majority of our e-journals are still accessed on the Scholars Portal servers, linked through Get It Trent and also searchable directly as the Scholars Portal Journals database (with 22,383,238 articles from over 8,925 full text journals covering every academic discipline - at last count).
We look forward to seeing plans for a new search engine to our index databases soon.

Please contact if you experience any difficulties with the new ProQuest interface.
