New Interface for Scholars Portal Journals

Posted on: January 7, 2014

The new Scholars Portal Journals interface is ready for use!  Available as an option for several months, it became the default (and only) interface as of January 6.

The new site provides improved searching about 10 times faster than the previous interface.  It's fully accessible and responsive to different screen sizes so it's easily used on mobile devices and tablets.

Other features:

  • limit search results to peer-reviewed articles
  • limit search results to locally available full-text ("Show only content I can access")
  • limit searches by subject
  • sort search results by date or relevancy
  • user alerts for new issues of journals (under "Browse")
  • browse the top-cited journals in a discipline
  • view times cited and times downloaded on results screen
  • easily add citations to a personal list, which can be exported into RefWorks for viewing later.

About Scholars Portal JournalsScholars Portal Journals Information about the database provides access to the majority of our online journals.  With one search, find articles on just about any topic, always in full text.

  • It's not ALL our journals, though.
  • Also see subject-specific databases on our Subject Guides.  Use Get It! Trent to link to full text available from any publisher's site.

The landing page provides an up-to-date count of content.  As of January 2014:

37469668 articles from over 15826 full text journals covering every academic discipline.

Scholars Portal is a service available only to faculty and students at Ontario's 21 universities. Funded by your library to house content owned by your library.
