Media Collection: Resources & Links

If you do not find items in TOPCAT consider one of the following options:

  • Search a variety of online resources for direct access to streaming and on-demand videos.
  • Borrow media from other Ontario institutions.
  • Faculty members can make recommendations to their department's library co-ordinator to have media titles purchased for the Library's collection.

Below are some resources you might use to find media.

Canadian Encyclopedia - Public Access Contains thousands of images as well as multimedia presentations on historical topics.

Criterion-on-Demand Database Description Restricted Access through Trent Criterion-on-Demand is an online digital delivery feature film system. Users may stream or download from a selection of over 2900 films ranging from classic film, documentaries, international film, North American feature films, cult classics, and more.

Encyclopedia Britannica Online - Restricted Access through Trent Britannica's video collection features short clips and full-length videos on a variety of academic subjects.

National Film Board Database Description Restricted Access through Trent Trent has subscribed to the Public Performance Rights of content on the NFB website, where you can watch films produced by the National Film Board of Canada. This license provides classroom use access to all streamed videos on the NFB site. The videos can be viewed on demand and shown in class. Streaming Films & Trent Library Database Description Restricted Access through Trent The Trent Library has arranged to have a small number of our purchased films licensed, digitized, and hosted for streaming over the internet. A company called McNabb Connolly is providing this service.

Theatre in Video Database Description Restricted Access through Trent Theatre in Video contains more than 250 definitive performances of the world's leading plays, together with more than 100 film documentaries, online in streaming video - more than 500 hours in all.
