Media Collection: Borrowing

Trent Library Media

All Trent University faculty, students and staff holding a valid library card may borrow titles from the Library's media collection. You will need to provide the call number and title of the item you wish to borrow to Library Service Desk staff.

Durham Branch users: Please use the booking option whenever possible. For last minute requests, send an email to durhamlibrary@trentu.ca.

For information on equipment for viewing media, see Trent's IT Department. Bata Library has a viewing station with a DVD player and TV, if needed for viewing videos.

Loan Period, Fines, Renewals

Media can be borrowed for 1 night and fines are applied when items are overdue. There are no renewals on media. See the Borrowing Regulations for more information.

Pick-Up and Return

Items that are available for pick-up can be obtained at the Library Service Desk.

Please return items to the book return slots.

Media from Other Ontario Institutions

Media requests for titles not found in TOPCAT, are handled through the Interlibrary Loans via our online Media Form.

The ITMS database, maintained by the University of Waterloo, lists media available at Ontario Universities. If you wish to borrow a media title, conduct an ITMS search (also find this link on the Media Form) to confirm its availability in Ontario.

Lending between institutions must comply with copyright & licensing requirements.

Please note: most lending institutions require a minimum of two weeks notice to place requests.

If you require assistance or have questions, ask at the Library Service Desk or email library@trentu.ca.
