ESRI: ArcGIS Desktop Education Edition (Student) Software

ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Education Edition (for use off-campus)

ArcGIS is a full-featured GIS software for visualizing, managing, creating, and analyzing geographic data. Using ArcGIS, you can understand the geographic context of your data, allowing you to see relationships and identify patterns in new ways.

ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcInfo) Education Edition  is available to registered students and instructors of Trent University for educational, research, and academic purposes, and not for commercial use.

Redistribution, transfer, resale, donation, or exchange of software is expressly prohibited.

The term of use is for one year (365 days), which starts upon registration of the Education Edition software. One copy of the software is allowed per student and can only be installed on one computer.

System Requirements

ArcGIS for Desktop runs on Windows operating system only. System requirements for Windows Computers should be reviewed before installing softare.

Esri EdCommunity provides information on installing ArcGIS and Windows on a Mac. Students wishing to install Windows operating system on their Mac, must do so independently. Trent University Library does not perform, or support these installions.

To Obtain Software and AN auTHoRIZATION CODE

Trent Library's Maps, Data & Government Information Centre (MaDGIC) coordinates the distribution of  ArcGIS for Desktop Education Edition software. To obtain software, please provide the Centre with the following:

1. A completed and signed  User Agreement (right click to download this agreement)

2. A scan of your Trent photo ID (or, alternatively, you can come in and show us a copy of your ID)

To complete the process by email: Return your license agreement and scan of your Photo ID to madgichelp@trentu.ca. Please use your Trent University email address when sending a message.

To complete the process in person: make an appointment to visit the Maps, Data & Government Information Centre's temporary location at 225 Charlotte St. in downtown Peterborough.

Hours of operation

Requests for software are normally processed within 2 business days, after receiving the above listed documentation.  Students will receive an email from MaDGIC supplying a unique access code and instructions on how to install and authorize software.
