R.D. Lloyd fonds. -- 1921-1922. -- 3 items.

Biography / History

R.D. Lloyd, Toronto, was on the staff of Camp Ahmek from 1942 to 1962. In 1948 and 1949, he was assistant canoeing instructor under Ron Perry, while Perry was collecting material for "The Canoe and You". R.D. Lloyd is the son of L. Loyd, member of the Cree Tribe, Tuxis Camp. (Taken from a letter written by R.D. Lloyd to Trent University Archives on February 26, 1993 and housed in Trent University Archives donor file)

This fonds was in the custody of R.D. Lloyd before it was donated to Trent University Archives.

Scope and Content

This fonds consists of three items: a 12-page pamphlet entitled "Astronomy" by Professor C.A. Chant of the University of Toronto for use by Tuxis boys; a newspaper clipping from "The Globe" dated June 1, 1922, entitled "Spring Stars: Hydra, the Water Snake"; two photocopied pages from R.D. Lloyd's father's Tuxis Manual with the name L. Lloyd, date 1921, and the roster of the "Cree Tribe" at camp along with the "Cree yell".

A letter dated February 26, 1993 and written by R.D. Lloyd accompanied the donation. This letter explains the context of the material donated and is housed in the donor file in Trent University Archives.
