Title

Ontario Summer Games fonds. Additions.-- 1986. -- 1.2 m of textual records.

Biography / History

The 1986 Ontario Summer Games were held inPeterborough, Ontario from July 17th to 20th. The Games are aprovincial festival of sports specifically designed to promotethe healthy development of amateur sports across Ontario. In the1986 games, there were approximately 2 000 participants involvedin 19 different sporting events. The events ranged from baseball,basketball, softball, volleyball, cricket, track and field, lacrosse,field hockey and rugby to sailing, canoeing, waterskiing, cycling,rifle target shooting and lawn bowling. Most of the funding forthe Games came from the provincial government, namely from theMinistry of Culture and Tourism.

Custodial History

This fonds was created by the committees organizingthe 1986 Ontario Summer Games in Peterborough. The fonds was inthe custody of the Athletics department of Trent University beforeit was donated to the Trent University Archives.

Scope and Content

This addition to the fonds consists of publicityand public relations materials, correspondence, files on eachsport and staff records for the 1986 Ontario Summer Games heldin Peterborough, Ontario at Trent University.
