Biography / History

The family history of David Logan (c1890-1866) and Margaret Fairley (1799-1891) and their descendants is portrayed in A Logan Family - Eight Generations in Canada. Logan and Fairley were the great-grandparents of Marlow Banks, author and researcher of the above book. Born in Scotland, it is believed that Logan and Fairley married around 1830 and had two children before leaving for Canada around 1834 or 1835. They settled in Smith Township, about nine miles north of Peterborough, and later moved to Douro. They had four more children after arriving in Canada.
