S.C. Shaw fonds. -- 1941-1943. -- 9 paintings : oil ; 22 X 28 cm.

Biography / History

S.C. Shaw was an artist who painted in the Peterborough region in the early 1940's.

Custodial History

The paintings were previously owned by Mrs. Hilda Kirkwood before they were purchased by Trent University.

Scope and Content

The fonds consists of nine oil paintings, 8 of which are on board and one on canvas material, of sites in the Townships of Burleigh and Otonabee and were painted between 1941 and 1943. Six pictures deal with the Mount Julian/Stoney Lake area, while the other two are pictures of sites at the Village of Keene in Otonabee Township. The last is a picture of a pioneer cabin, in Burleigh Township.


Title based on the creator of the fonds.

One of the paintings was donated by Mrs. Hilda Kirkwood. The remaining eight were purchased from her in 1965.
