Society of Camp Directors fonds. Additions. -- 1957-2014. -- 60 cm of textual records.

Biography / History

The Society of Camp Directors was founded May 21, 1969, after a long gestation period, from about 1957, when the subject was first broached in the Ontario Camping Association. Members of the OCA who were camp directors were instrumental in the formation of the new society.

Scope and Content

Fonds includes several SCD Writing Awards submissions and copies of papers presented at SCD meetings. Also included are binders of correspondence, minutes of meetings, brochures and pamphlets, etc. related to the SCD.


Custodial History:
Fonds was in the custody of Bruce Hodgins, Peter Gilbert, and Catherine Ross before being donated to Trent University.

Researchers are reminded that the Writing Awards essay submissions are copyrighted materials; the authors own the copyright. As well, SCD papers presented at SCD meetings are copyrighted and permission to explicitly use them must be received from the SCD.
