Yvonne Lai, M.A.:
Yvonne is a PhD candidate in the Psychology department at York University. She is interested in the ways in which the study of psychological sense of community relates to the study of group and social identity. She has examined this in the context of seniors' participation in community and age-related groups, and the impact on their empowerment and psychological sense of community. Recently, she was engaged in an assessment of immigrant needs in Peterborough, and hope to study the process of civic engagement after settlement.

Katherine Milligan:
Katie is a recent Trent Graduate with an Honours degree in Psychology. She has been involved in previous projects including research examining the relationship between reading disability and language impairment and a project studying sleep patterns among children and teenagers with autism. Since graduating, Katie is returning to Trent to gain further research experience in the lab. Aside from her studies, Katie has been assisting individuals with special needs for almost 7 years and is currently employed in a group home caring for people with developmental disabilities. She has done volunteer work with Speech-Language Pathologists assisting them with treating aphasic stroke patients and children with articulation/language problems. Katie has a natural desire to help people and a strong interest in research on language and speech. She hopes to gain more experience in this field before pursuing a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
