International Student Advisor
An International Student Advisor can support you in the following areas:
- Discussing Canadian immigration topics relating to international students and their legal dependents: study permit conditions, working conditions, entry documents, etc.
- Guide students through Canadian immigration application processes which relate to study permit holders.
- The importance of remaining a full-time student and discussing implications of part-time.
- Discussing potential changes in academic journey which could impact immigration status.
- Developing a plan to deal with academic difficulties (i.e., Academic Probation, Suspension).
- Dropping, or withdrawing from a course.
- Taking a leave from studies.
- Course registration.
Note: Trent University’s International Student Immigration Advisors are Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) and cannot advise on permanent residence or citizenship, fill out immigration application forms on a student’s behalf, or represent students. For these services, you will require a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).
How to book an Appointment with an International Advisor
Advising is available Monday to Friday by appointment. We book appointments one week in advance.
To book an appointment with an International Student Advisor:
- Login to the Student Experience Portal www.trentu.ca/sep
- Select “Peterborough/Durham Campus Appointment Bookings” on the left-hand menu
- Select “Trent International”
- Select "Book by Appointment Type"
- Select either "Academic Advising" or "Immigration Advising"
- Select an appointment block and fill in the required information
If you do not see any appointments available it is because they have already been booked for the week ahead. New appointments for the future open each business day at 9:00am ET. You can also check back frequently for cancelations that open up.
