Cleantech Commons
Cleantech Commons at Trent University® is Canada's hub for clean, green and low/zero-carbon technology research, innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship. Cleantech Commons is building a clustered community of scalable growth companies, start-up and spinout ventures, and corporate accelerators and “innovation outposts” – creating the perfect location for industry to connect with students, faculty, researchers and start-ups committed to addressing the most pressing energy, environment and climate challenges of our times.
Innovation Cluster
The Innovation Cluster supports determined, innovative entrepreneurs in the formation and growth of their technology-driven companies. The Innovation Cluster focuses on four key sectors: Clean Technology, Agriculture Technology, Digital Technology, and Healthcare Technology. The Innovation Cluster’s dynamic programming ensures that startups find their best path to market. The Innovation Cluster operates three incubators, that make up an ecosystem called The Cube located at Trent University, Symons Campus, Peterborough, Ontario.
Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry
Protecting Ontario’s biodiversity while promoting economic opportunities in the resource sector and supporting outdoor recreation opportunities. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is a government ministry of the Canadian province of Ontario that is responsible for Ontario's provincial parks, forests, fisheries, wildlife, mineral aggregates and the Crown lands and waters that make up 87 per cent of the province. Its offices are divided into Northwestern, Northeastern and Southern Ontario regions with the main headquarters in Peterborough, Ontario.

Environmental and Related Technologies Hub (EaRTH) District
Centennial College, Durham College Ontario Tech University, Trent University and the University of Toronto Scarborough are pleased to announce the launch of the Environmental and Related Technologies Hub (EaRTH) District, a collaborative research, curriculum and community consortium.
The Northern and Rural Innovation Cluster
A partnership between Laurentian University, Lakehead University, Nipissing University, and Trent University - The Northern and Rural Innovation Cluster leverages the expertise of post-secondary institutions and industry partnerships for projects related to intellectual property and entrepreneurship, research data management and security, policy development, course/curriculum development, networking and joint symposia, and government relations, such as engaging with provincial and federal ministries and funding agencies.

Noblegen
Noblegen is an advanced digital biology company that makes unique protein, carbohydrate, and oil ingredients from a single microorganism called Euglena gracilis. Noblegen, founded in 2013, is dedicated to increasing global accessibility of sustainably produced, healthy ingredients. The company currently employs over 60 people at its Peterborough, Ontario location.
Carbonix
Carbonix is an emerging Canadian Indigenous technology company that has developed a proprietary, environmentally friendly and disruptive process to manufacture customizable and lower cost activated carbon using sustainably sourced feedstocks. Carbonix have been developing this process since 2011 and have been working with Trent University's Chemistry Department since 2013. Typical uses are the purification of water, air, chemicals, oil and gas, food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and other liquids and gases, such the removal of mercury in flue gas streams. The wide variety of industries that use activated carbon products are mature and established. New applications are also emerging, such as energy storage, examples of which are ultra capacitors and adsorbed natural gas storage tanks for motor vehicles.

Water Quality Centre
The Trent Water Quality Centre is the most comprehensive mass spectrometry facility in Canada. We specialize in method development and the application of new and innovative techniques for measuring isotopes and trace amounts of organic and inorganic contaminants in water and other environmental compartments. We offer analytical services and mass spectrometer training courses to researchers, government agencies and private companies.
Natural Resources DNA Profiling and Forensic Centre
The Natural Resources DNA Profiling and Forensic Centre (NRDPFC) offers services in sequencing, genotyping, extractions, quantification, PCRs, Post-PCR clean-ups, general equipment usage, cherry picking/sample selection, slave/daughter/duplicate plates and database management in relation to DNA data storage.
Institute for Watershed Science
The Institute for Watershed Science (IWS) is committed to provide technical training to provide effective knowledge and technology transfer to Ontario's water management professionals by offering various training courses, such as the Class 1 Electrofishing Certification Course.
